The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila however said the invitation of the president to disclose the actions being taken towards handling the security situation in the country would be inappropriate and counter-productive.
This was opposed by some members of the House and thus led to an uproar in the chamber.
The House then went into an executive session to resolve the matter and after emerging from the executive session, one of the sponsors of the motion, Hon. Ahmed Jaha made an amendment to the motion
The motion now reads “to invite President to brief on the security situation in the country”.
His amendment was seconded and unanimously adopted.
Meanwhile, no date was fixed for the invitation.
It will be recalled that the insecurity in the nation reached its height on Saturday when at least 110 people were killed in the Boko Haram attack on Zabarmari, a farming community in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State
