NSE Election: Uchenwa Ujam Emerge As First Female Chairman
Enugu Chapter of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has produced through an electoral process the first-ever female chairman in the person of Mrs. Uchenwa Ujam.
Mrs. Ujam who was duly elected as the first female chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Enugu State Chapter, had to her credit a total of 61 votes to defeat her co-contestant, Mr. Chibuzo Aka who scored 29 votes.

NSE Enugu chapter election which was held in Enugu during the NSE 2020 Annual General Meeting/ Election threw the women engineers into jubilation after Engr. Mrs. Uchenwa Ujam was declared winner.
Ujam in her acceptance speech thanked her colleagues for finding her worthy to lead the society, noted that she would not disappoint them. She also spoke on the issues of buildings collapse in the country.
She said “There are many causes of building collapse in our society. The major one is the activities of the quacks, those who answer “engineers” when they are not but are undertaking the construction of buildings which is meant to be the job of engineers.
She stressed that NSE Enugu Branch has already achieved a landmark by electing her, being the first female chairman over 60 years of the branch’s existence.
