We Are Committed To The Welfare Of Teachers, Pupils And Infrastructure-SUBEB Boss Assures

Dr. Nureni Adeniran, the Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB) has disclosed that his office is committed to the welfare of the teachers, pupils, and infrastructure of the public primary schools in the State.
Dr. Nureni also said SUBEB is ready to re-enroll more ‘out of school children’ from the streets across all the geo-political zones of the State.
Speaking with journalists in his office at Agodi, the state capital of Oyo, Dr. Nureni, stated that his office with collaboration with the office of the Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on BESDA has taken over 10, 000 to 15, 000 out of school children out of the streets.
He said ” there has been an increase in the number of registration of out of school children that have enrolled in our public primary schools over the last one year that we have been in the office.
“We are still committed to absorbing more of them from the street, those children are mostly hawkers and Almajiris”. Dr. Adeniran stated.
Dr. Adeniran further noted that SUBEB is responsible for the welfare of teachers, pupils, and infrastructures in public primary schools across the state, while the Ministry of Education is meant for Policymaking, time table and calendar of events of academic of the State.
Dr. Adeniran stressed that SUBEB is into the monitoring of public primary school infrastructures just to renovate, rebuild, and reconstruct them. They are also on ground to monitor the welfare of teachers, whereby we train and retrain them just to match their counterparts across the world.
We do engage in monitoring tours during the examinations period in the State to see how are our Pupils are doing.
The monitoring exercise has always been helpful to both the teachers and the pupils, as those teachers are well encouraged, as they discharge their duties with maximum required abilities to teach those pupils to the required standard so they can compete with their mates anywhere around the world. Adeniran stated.
“We have identified 21 Almajiris Centers that are located in all geo-political zones of the State, and as soon as they commence operation, there will be more out of school children that will be joining us for training and that will surely reduce the number of out of school children in our state. Dr. Nureni stressed.
