Ekiti Lawmaker Moves Motion To Immortalise Late Veteran Actor, Jimoh Aliu

Ekiti State Lawmaker has moved a motion for a befitting cultural monument for late Jimoh Aliu

News Rain exclusively gathered that Hon. Bode-Adeoye popularly called JOBA representing Ekiti West II Constituency, on Tuesday moved the motion on the floor of Ekiti State House of Assembly under Matters of Urgent Public Importance calling on the Ekiti State Government to immortalise Chief Jimoh Aliu MFR with a befitting cultural monument in the state.

Ekiti Lawmaker Speak On Late Jimoh Aliu.

The Lawmaker who represented late Jimoh Aliu’s constituency in Ekiti State while presenting the motion stated that: “It is on a sad note but gratitude to Almighty Allah that I bring to your notice the demise of an Ekiti icon, a hero of Yoruba theatre world, a culture evangelist, a Nollywood veteran and a great ambassador of Ekiti State, Chief Jimoh Fakoya Aliu, MFR, popularly known as Baba Aworo. Chief Jimoh Aliu was the High Chief Elejoka of Okemesi- Ekiti. Chief Jimoh Aliu was a Nigeria dramatist, a playmaker scriptwriter, a director and a community leader.’

Speaking further, the Lawmaker posited: “Mr Speaker, one most unique feature of all his works is that they are all embellished with history, culturally rich and tradition amplifying. And second, Mr Speaker, you can never guess right what will happen in the next scene or next stage or next week, even with a glance of preview usually called “LO SE TIN BO’.

He, therefore, moved the motion; Mr Speaker and my distinguished colleagues, may I use this medium to call on the Ekiti State Government, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Centre for Council and Arts to immortalise this great ambassador, a hero of Yoruba theatre and performing arts who had done Ekiti State very proud with his God-given talents till the time of his death with a befitting cultural monument as may be approved by His Excellency, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, CON the executive governor of Ekiti State and the Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum.”

It will be recalled that Jimoh Aliu a veteran actor, former President of Nigerian Theatre Art Practitioners and a native of Okemesi-Ekiti in Ekiti State died at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital on Thursday, 17 October 2020.
