Nigeria Military has declared the killing of some Boko Haram top commanders.
News Rain reports that Nigeria’s Army has killed several top commanders of the Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West African Province known as ISWAP.
The killing which occurred during a clearance operation by the troops of the Nigerian military was made known to the public on Thursday by the Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations, ( CDMO), Major General John Enenche.

Major General John Enenche in a statement that was released to the effect in Abuja stated that one of the high-profile commanders with his four wives surrendered to the troops.
The statement further stated that the massive clearance operations were conducted by troops of Army Super Camp Malumfatori at the Lake Chad Basin in continuation of the aggressive clearance operation against terrorism and other sundry crimes in the North East.
Major General Enenche said that “Several top BHT/ISWAP terrorist commanders were killed during the successful operation including Abu Usman, Alhaji Shettima, Modu Mainok, Bukar Gana, Abu Summayya, Amir Taam, and Amir Kuraish among others.
“The successful operation led to the destruction of several identified terrorists’ camps and hideouts located at Tunbun Gini, Tunbun Nbororo, Tunbun Kayoma, Tunbun Kaza, Tunbun Fulani at the fringes of Lake Chad in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Major General John Enenche also in a press briefing on Thursday assured the people of the North East, the affected area of adequate security, and the commitment of the troops to the safety of lives and properties.
He said that that the troops of Operation LAFIYA Dole in the North East, also killed scores of the fighters of these terrorist groups, noted that the Armed Forces of Nigeria working together with other security agencies were highly committed to ending the insurgency and other security challenges in the country.
“Within the period under review, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE conducted a series of offensives, air and ground operations on terrorists’ enclaves at different locations in Borno, Yobe, Taraba and the Adamawa States. Notably, a high profile BHT commander, surrendered with 4 of his wives to own troops.
“The operations also led to the arrest of one BHT fighter at Kamuya in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State and 9 other criminals in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State. Caches of arms and ammunition as well as equipment and motorcycles were also recovered.
