News Rain gathered that the lingering political crisis in Ekiti State has taken a new turn with the Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda, asking the Political Adviser to the President, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, and others to retract allegations against the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi.

Ekiti Attorney General To Ojudu On Allegations Against Fayemi

He advised a group of eight members of the All Progressives Congress-led by Senator Tony Adeniyi, to withdraw their allegations of interference with judicial processes against Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Fapohunda said on Saturday that the allegation that “Fayemi unilaterally changed the venue of the sitting of the Court of Appeal, Ekiti State Division in an election matter, cannot but make one speechless.”

He said, “Where will Governor Fayemi get the power to simply move the venue of sittings of the Court of Appeal out of Ekiti State to another state to deliver a judgment?

“It is necessary that we pursue the matter to its logical conclusion, which will include seeking a retraction from Senator Adeniyi and his colleagues.

“Senator Adeniyi is a senior and distinguished lawyer and one of our finest lawyers from Ekiti State, indeed, he was recently shortlisted for the award of a senior advocate, it, therefore, simply beats my imagination that he will append his signature to such obvious mind-boggling allegation.

It will be recalled that in recent times, there has been controversy surrounding the political situation in Ekiti State, with different rival groups fighting for supremacy. This led to a series of allegations and counter-allegations that have ended in court.
