The Ondo State governorship election held today across the 18 LGAs of the state.

News Rain Nigeria today, 10 October 2020, the people of Ondo State, southwest Nigeria, will troop out to elect a new governor to govern them for another four years term.

Below are local government areas where the election will take place are;

Akoko North-East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-East, Akoko South-West, Akure North, Akure South.

Others are Ese Odo, Idanre, Ifedore, Ilaje, Ile Oluji/Okeigbo, Irele, Odigbo, Okitipupa, Ondo East, Ondo, Ose, Owo.

Agboola Ajayi the Ondo State Deputy Governor has won his polling unit.

News Rain Nigeria gathered that the governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party, Agboola Ajayi, has won his polling unit in Kiribo in the Ese Odo Local Government Area in the ongoing gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

According to the result pasted at the unit by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, titled, ‘Publication of Result of Poll’, Agboola won the Apoi Ward II, Unit 004, Idumado Quarters, Kiribo with a wide margin having garnered 395 votes.

Eyitayo Jegede the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won his polling unit.

News Rain Nigeria gathered that he polled 220 votes to defeat Akeredolu of the APC who scored 60 and Agboola who polled seven votes.

Jegede votes at Unit 009, Ward 2, Akure LG located inside Sacred Heart Primary School, Cathedral area of Akure.

  1. At the second unit in the primary school, Jegede polled 158 votes to defeat the APC candidate who polled 43 and ZLP candidate Ajayi Agboola who polled four votes.
  2. The results of Ward 2, Unit 9, and Unit 10, the results are Ward 2, Unit 10. APC polled 43, PDP polled 158, while ZLP polled 4. In Ward 2, Unit 9, APC polled 60, PDP polled 220, and ZLP 7.

Voters are already on queue ready to vote. There is a policy of No nose-mask, no voting. Social distancing is not maintained at all.

Voting is about to commence and voters are already on a queue. The PO has addressed party agents showing them the sealed state of the ballot papers.

Polling unit 2, St Peters Primary School.

INEC officials are seen pasting the list of eligible voters and there is orderliness in the center as security officials are seen on ground. Some citizens were also seen arguing about the fact that the government is supposed to provide nose masks for voters.

Voters are seen checking their names on the pasted lists and INEC officials are busy with the materials.

Polling Unit 009 (OPEN SPACE AT KATURI)

Voters are checking names on the register. Both the P.O and Asst. P.O are present.

Polling boots are set up and party agents are being addressed on how to conduct themselves.

Security officers are present.

Electoral materials are all on ground and accreditation will be starting soon, according to the P.O

No compliance with COVID protocols but the APO1 said it will be adhered to when voting starts. People are checking their names and already in the queue.

Electoral materials are also being arranged.

Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo (Ondo Central Sen. District)

Ward 3, PU 001 (Ajiferere North, SkyWay Pry School)

Some voters were seen on ground checking their details on the pasted voters lists.

Two police and one civil defense officers are also here. INEC officials expressed readiness to commence the exercise. However, few voters are seen wearing face masks.

Oda Ward 6 Akure South: There is commotion over the list of Okada riders that will transport election materials and polling officials to areas not accessible by motor vehicles. The confusion has resulted in the delay to transport the materials.

Odigbo LGA.

Ward: 004

Polling Unit: 012

Voting has started here. Some of the electorates are on the line while some are checking their names on the lists. Although I see the police officers spacing the electorates as required, the people were seen staying close to one another in the queue as no physical distancing is being followed as directed by INEC. The majority of them wear their nose masks. Three policemen and one mobile police are on ground to maintain order.

Polling Unit 12 (Olorunsogo Oduduwa) :

INEC officials and the security men are here waiting for voting to commence

Also some electorates are here.

According to the PO, the election materials, both sensitive and non-sensitive, are on ground.

ODIGBO LGA

Ward (location) : Oniparaga Ward. ( ST.PHILIPS PRY SCH.ONIPARAGA)

All election officers and election materials are still at the oniparaga collation centre.

Meanwhile, police officers are refusing to leave with the corpers and INEC officers due to the non-payment of their money.

Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo (Ondo Central Sen. District)

Ward 1, PU 001 (Ajiferere, Cocoa Industry).

Potential voters are checking their information on the pasted voter lists and there is little compliance with COVID-19 rules among the electorates on ground.

Two security officers were seen at the unit while INEC officials were also seen setting up their stands.

Local Government: Okitipupa Local Government Area

At the collation center at Stella Maris College, INEC officials are currently moving some election materials to various polling units.

All materials are available, security personnel are fully on ground while the electorate are seen hanging around till the commencement by 8:30 am

7:32am: Local Government: Ile-oluji/Okeigbo

Ward: 7

Polling Unit 13 (olorunsogo/maternity oke ora) :

INEC officials are here waiting for electorates while some electorates are sighted checking their names on the list.

According to the PO, the election will kick off by 8:30am

7:28 AM

Local Government: Odigbo LGA.

Ward: 003

Polling Unit: 011

All INEC materials, INEC Staff and Security Operatives are still on ground. None of the materials is yet to be deployed to their various units.

Sadly enough, no single bus is on ground yet.

Some residents in this Ajue, Ward 08, Unit 011- which is the RAC collation center for Ajue Ward are eagerly waiting while the exercise kick start.

7:32: Local Government: ileoluji okeigbo
Ward: 7

Polling Unit 13 (olorunsogo/maternity oke ora) :

INEC officials are here waiting for electorates to come.

Note that the electoral body had released the names of 28 successful candidates who have indicated an interest in becoming the next governor of the State.

Among the three top candidates are Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress, Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy, and Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party, who is having the backing of the outgoing governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
