Gov. Makinde Hosts French Government, Sets For Economic Partnership

French Government has paid a visit to Makinde for Economic Partnership.
News Rain Nigeria reports that the French Government delegations on Monday paid a business visit to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in his Exco Chamber, Agodi Secretariat Office Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

The French delegations which were led by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jerome Pasquier met with the Governor to discuss with him on how the State can partner with the French Government on some programs that will be of more economical and human value to the State.
The host, Governor Makinde, said his meeting with the French Government delegations is to discuss how the State can collaborate with the French Government in order to broaden the State economy and also ensure a better life for its people.
Makinde also in a statement that was signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa on the development expressed his delight that the close relationship between the state, the French Embassy, and the Government of France, noted that his government is open to collaborating with France on several projects in areas such as education, agriculture, security, and economic expansion.
Governor Makinde through the statement that was made available to News Rain Nigeria Correspondent in Ibadan on Monday stressed at the meeting with the French government delegations that his led administration has recorded positive in the State Internally Generated Revenue and has increased the economic expansion by 26.4 percent despite the CONVID – 19 pandemic effect.
Makinde added that the close relationship with the French Government and Its Embassy will further boost the State in some sectors such as education, agriculture, security, and economic expansion.
He said: “We are happy to have this close relationship with the French Embassy and the Government of France. I am quite happy with the relationship. I have a very good memory of what is going on in France right now.
“Since the last time we visited together, there have been positive changes in the economic landscape of Oyo State. For example, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Oyo State still witnessed 26.4 percent growth in our IGR. We have also been addressing the infrastructural deficit of the state and that has been helping us to actually boost the economy.” Governor Makinde stated.
“Oyo State is ready for business and we have tried as much as possible to be open because we believe transparency is very key. We believe there are programs we can tailor to fit what we need.”
Governor Makinde stated that he is ready to seek help where necessary to turn around the economy of Oyo State, adding that the state is ready and open to businesses that can bring development and growth to its economy.
The governor, however, appealed to the French Delegation to assist the state in the Occupational and Educational Programme that can boost the state’s education system.
The partnership meeting was attended by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan; Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun; Chief of Staff, Chief Bisi Ilaka; Head of Service, Mrs. Ololade Agboola; Commissioners; chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Isiaka Tunde Kazeem, and other House of Assembly members.
The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Pasquire Jerome was also accompanied to the partnership meeting with the Oyo State Government by the France Consular General in Lagos, Laurence Monmayrant, and other top France diplomatic officials.
