Okowa Mourns J.P. Clark, Extends Condolence To Family

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has mourned the death of J. P. Clark.
News Rain Nigeria reports that the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Tuesday extended condolences to the family of the late Professor J. P. Clark.

Okowa, in a condolence message sent to the Clark family, described the late Emeritus Professor of Literature as an enigma whose works would continue to dominate the contemporary Nigerian society, and also described his demise as a great loss to the Country and the literary world at large.
The condolence message which was issued by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okowa noted that Governor appreciates the immense contribution of the late Professor to the growth and development of literature in Nigeria, Africa, and the World as a whole.
Okowa, through the statement, stated that the literary works of Professor J.P. Clark, promoted Delta, Nigeria, and Africa, hence his demise was being celebrated by lovers of literature all over the world.
He, therefore, condoled with the family of the deceased saying: “On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I commiserate with the Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family over the passing of renowned poet, literary giant, and playwright, Emeritus Professor John Pepper Clark”.
Governor Okowa also used the medium to pray for the family left behind, he said: “I pray to God to grant his immediate family, the Ijaw nation and lovers of literature, the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Dr. Okowa said, though the passage of the great Icon will be sorely missed, but stressed that his numerous achievements in the literary world would forever continue to be remembered.
He said. “He will be sorely missed by all whose lives he affected in many ways with his literary works”.
Okowa urged all who mourn the demise of the late Professor to take solace in the fact that he “remains alive through his literary works”.
“As a serial award-winner in poetry, the late Prof. Clark was a consummate patriot, a great literary icon and a teacher par excellence, whose literary publications inspired deep thoughts, especially on social-economic and political themes.
Recalled, that the late Emeritus Professor reportedly died in Lagos hospital yesterday, Tuesday, 13th, October 2020, at the age of 85.
It’s also on record that the late Professor was a native of Kiagbodo of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, and was a renowned poet, playwright writer, and also a younger brother to  Chief Edwin Clark, the former Information Minister.
