Police have released operational guidelines for the Tactical team.
News Rain Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Police Force has released an operational guideline for the newly ordered Tactical team of the force.

The Nigeria Police Force in a statement that was issued to the effect by DCP. Frank Mba, who is the Public Relation Officer for the Force Headquarters Abuja, noted that the new Tactical team which is carved out of the Force, to replace the activities of the disbanded Special Anti – Robbery Squad, otherwise known as SARS, are to always respond to any armed robbery cases.
According to the release which a copy was forwarded to the News Rain Nigeria correspondent in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, on Thursday, 15th, October 2020, around, 2:53 pm, by the Oyo State Police Public Relation Officer, SP. Olugbenga Fadeyi stated that the activities of the new Tactical team are expected to always respond to any scene of weapon-related crimes.
Parts of their duties is to also respond to rescue operations and special assignments that are involved in high profile criminal cases.
The statement, however, noted that all the disbanded SARS operatives are not eligible for the Tactical team, it also noted that the team will be strictly intelligence driven, while they are not also permitted to be on routine patrols.
The new Police Tactical team members, according to the statement are banned from indiscriminate and unlawful searches of phones, laptops, and other smart devices.
The statement also confirmed that the operatives of the new Tactical team must be free from any pending disciplinary matters, especially those with issues of misuse of firearms and abuse of human rights.
Recall, that the Nigeria Police Force, under the directives from the Inspector General of Police, IGP. Adamu Muhammed has on Sunday disbanded the activities of the SARS as in line with the directives from the Federal Government on the demand of some Nigerians who called for the total abolish of the Squad from the Police Force based on the series of complaint of their brutality against Nigerians.
