Congratulations! Nigerian Star Nominated For UEFA Team Of The Year

Nigerian star, Asisat Oshoala, has been nominated for the 2020 UEFA Fans’ Team Of the Year.

News Rain Nigeria gathered that Super Falcons captain and the Barcelona ladies forward is among the 50-woman shortlisted for the award by UEFA.

Oshoala has scored twice in six league appearances for the Blaugrana this season.
The Nigeria international netted 20 times in 19 league outings last term.

The statement on UEFA website read: “The nominees are proposed by the UEFA editorial team before being validated by the technical observer panel on the basis of their performances in UEFA competitions and domestic competitions within UEFA member associations from January to December 2020.”

“The UEFA.com Team of the Year is chosen to reflect the votes of the fans in parallel with player’s achievements over the course of the calendar year, moderated by the UEFA Technical Observer panel.”

Recall that on 31 January 2019, Spanish club FC Barcelona Femení signed Oshoala from Chinese club Dalian Quanjian F.C. on a loan deal until the end of the season. She scored Barcelona’s only goal in a 4–1 defeat to Lyon in the 2019 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final.

On May 31, 2019, Barcelona announced Oshoala’s full transfer to the club and extension until 2022.

On January 11, 2020, Oshoala scored four goals in a 6-0 win against CD Tacon.
She had previously played for Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC both of England.

Oshoala, a Member of Order of Niger (MON) was named best player and was the highest goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She was also named best player and second top goalscorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women’s Championship.
