BENUE: Military In Gun Battle With Bandits, Kill Three, Recover Weapons
Nigeria troops have silenced not less than three armed bandits in Benue.
News Rain Nigeria reports that Major General John Enenche the Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations, on Monday disclosed that no fewer than three bandits were silenced on Sunday, in Benue State, during a shootout encounter with the Nigeria troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE.
Major General Enenche through the operation update made available to the pressmen on Monday in Abuja said the troops of Sector one, Operation WHIRL STROKE, responded to a distress call from Local vigilante members that reported the ongoing attack by suspected armed herdsmen on Tsehombe-Adaka village.

Enenche maintained that the troops immediately mobilized to the location leading to a shootout between troops and the armed bandits, noting that the gallant troops overwhelmed the bandits by superior firepower, as they successfully neutralized 3 of the armed bandits while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Major General Enenche through the update maintained that the military requested members of the public to continue to provide credible information to troops operating within their localities.
Items recovered from the bandits are one AK 47 rifle loaded with one magazine containing 5 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
General Enenche however stated in the operation update from Defence Headquarters assured that the gallant troops have continued to dominate the area with aggressive patrols to deter further attacks.
The Operation Coordinator noted that efforts were being made to locate and neutralize other bandits that might still be hibernating in the area.
