Tragedy! Gunmen Murder Another PDP chieftain

Gunmen have murdered a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

News Rain Nigeria reports that the Oyo State Police Command has on Saturday at about 7:55am confirmed the killing of Dr. Fatai Aborode in Igangan.

The urgly occurrence was confirmed through a press statement issued by the State Police Public Relation Officer SP Olugbenga Fadeyi.

According to the copy of the statement made available to Oyo State News Rain Nigeria Correspondent, further confirmed the earlier reports of the killing.

The statement which was personally signed by the State Police Public Relation Officer stated that “At about 1750 hrs of 11/12/2020, along Apodun road Igangan, one Alh Fatai Aborode ‘m’ of Igangan, was robbed and shot by four unknown gun men, the victim was rushed to Olugbon hospital Igboora where he was confirmed dead.

The statement further said that “Effort is on to arrest the fleeing assailants.

News Rain Nigeria gathered that the killing according to a source who pleaded anonymous said that some unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked both Dr. Fatai Aborode and his manager while leaving his farm on motorbike at about 4pm on Friday.

The source said: ”Some suspected Fulani herdsmen just killed a former House of Representatives Candidate of Accord Party during the 2015 general election, in Igangan Ibarapa North West Local Council Development Authority, Dr. Fatai Aborode.

Aborode according to the source, he was said to have been attacked by hoodlums near his farm while leaving the farm with his manager on a motorbike.

The hoodlums was said to have macheted the Ibarapa farmer cum politician severally and as a result of several injuries sustained during the attack died on his way to hospital in Igboora.

Aborode was said to have kicked the bucket in between Tapa and Aiyete Community, while being rushed to hospital, while his manager manage to escaped from the scene.

As at the time of filling this report, nobody has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Although a press statement by the State Police Public Relation Officer SP. Olugbenga Fadeyi stressed that all efforts are in place to arrest the fleeing assailants.

Sadly, the ugly incident happened less than 24 hours of an agric stakeholders meeting in Ibadan the State Capital with the aim of finding a last solution to attack on cash crop farmers in Oke Ogun, Ibarapa areas of the State.

Aborode until his untimely death was the Chief Executive Officer of the Kunfayakun Green Treasure Limited, and a grassroot Politician.
