Olopoeyan Gives Reasons For Meeting With Tinubu

Olopoeyan maintained that his relationship with the all reliable political leaders has nothing to do with party affiliation.

He said, my meeting with Tinubu is for the love I had for him. I also have large heart in maintaining relationship with other political leaders across all the political parties.

Olopoeyan in a phone chat with News Rain Nigeria on Tuesday disclosed that with his level in Nigeria politics, he is fit to meet any political leader irrespective of the party affiliations.

Olopoeyan said he was wondering why some sycophants who are paper weight and Facebook politicians were saying he was preparing to join APC.

Olopoeyan queried that, “when former President Jonathan was visiting President Buhari or when Governor Obaseki was in APC and met with Jonathan, does that mean Jonathan want to join APC.

He said, “My level in Nigeria politics vested in me to meet any politicians irrespective of party affiliation.

Those spelling rumours are political jobbers. I have never left PDP and I am still a strong and bonafide member of PDP.

“It is true that I met Asiwaju. I am happy I know him. I am happy I met someone I love. I love him personally without anything attached. But I am in PDP. I have not joined APC.

Olopoeyan maintained that ”It was Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who invited me to come and see him. He said he has heard a lot about me and would love us to work together. He said he would like me to join Oyo APC. Respectfully, I told him that I am in PDP and that I cannot join the APC. I, however, told him that I love him. He said he loves people like me too.

”I remember that late former governor Abiola Ajimobi extended similar gesture to me in 2012. Thank God Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, who was late Ajimobi’s political adviser as at that time is still alive. He was at the meeting.

“Former governor Abiola Ajimobi asked me to come over to the APC and that he would give me more than what his predecessor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala was doing for me. I rejected it respectfully. And we related till he died last year. That is me.

Olopoeyan, a strong ally of Oyo state governor,  Engineer Seyi Makinde, who was believed to have work for the emergence of present PDP led government in Oyo state is not having it good with the governor on the ground that he felt neglected immediately governor Makinde gets into the office, stressing that “As a notable politician, I always try my possible best to maintain cordial relationship with all political leaders irrespective of party affiliation”.
