7th Constituency Stakeholders Meeting: Hon. Saheed Wasiu Obafemi Calls For Aggressive Campaigns Against Drug Abuse
Hon Saheed Wasiu Obafemi representing Kosofe Constituency 2 of Agboyi Ketu local council development area, Lagos state has called for aggressive campaigns against drug abuse which is fast becoming prevalent among adults, especially the youths, noting that the scourge had been a source of grave concern to the leadership and members of the House.
News Rain Nigeria reports that Hon Saheed Wasiu Obafemi made this statement during the 7th constituency stakeholders meeting, an annual programme purposely initiated to serve as an avenue for the lawmakers to sensitize residents, teachers, students, religious organisations, professional bodies, academia, civil society organisations, and community leaders, as well as individuals, on the disturbing trend of drug abuse in the society, and the danger it portends for the youths and the society at large.
Speaking on the theme:’ Increasing Wave Of Drug Abuse: A Threat To Nation-Building, Hon Saheed Wasiu Obafemi stated that the increasing rate of drug abuse among the youths in the state called for increased sensitisation to arrest the ugly trend.
He stressed that the use and abuse of drugs is fast becoming prevalent among adults, especially the youths, noting that the scourge had been a source of grave concern to the leadership and members of the House.

He also advised that youths as future leaders must show concern to their welfare by shunning drug abuse.
Guests, who spoke at the event, commended the constituency and emphasised the need to effectively curb drug abuse with the clergy promising to carry the campaign to worship centres.
Stakeholders that graced the event were traditional rulers, leaders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), community leaders, students, security personnel and residents of the local council among others.
