HDI Sensitizes Stakeholders On Lagos State UBE Action Plan
Human Development Initiative, HDI with the support of MacArthur Foundation recently organised sensitization programme for Community Stakeholders on Universal Basic Education (UBE) action plan for Intervention Projects in Lagos State.
Speaking at the event, HDI programme Officer, Mr Johnson Ibidapo, said the sensitization programme is to expose the participants to their roles as major stakeholders in ensuring the successful implementation of Universal Basic education activities in their communities, saying that many of them were not aware of the UBE Act of 2004, as the provisions of the Act and their roles he said was the reason majority of government programmes are failing.
He added that the sensitisation is to educate them on the content of Lagos state Universal Basis Education SUBEB 2019/2020 Action plan which are to be implemented starting from this month, November 2021.

He stressed further that, “The idea is for them to help track basic education projects allocated to a particular school in their area, with the Action Plan which we at HDI have already simplified. We have a handbook we have already given to all of them today. They will leave this place to go out to track these particular projects; if there are issues like corruption, disparities; we have provided numbers and other channels of avenues they could report to. We want all stakeholders to be involved in ensuring quality basic education in the state.
Also, the Executive Director of Human Development Initiatives (HDI), Mrs Olufunso Owasanoye, spoke on the importance of monitoring and tracking the implementation of UBEC/SUBEB projects, Owasanoye said: “We want an education system where our children will feel comfortable to be in school, not on the streets committing crime and causing instability in the country.”
Owasanoye said the sensitisation programme is targeted at making sure that the stakeholders could have a better understanding of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) interventions, as well as understand their roles as stakeholders in ensuring quality service delivery.
