MohBad: Popular Radio Station Ban Naira Marley Songs Across All Stations

Popular radio broadcast station, Splash FM 105.5 Ibadan, Oyo State, has banned the playing of songs by Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, from airing on the station till further notice.

This follows the criticism surrounding Marley, following the death of MohBad.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by one of the presenters at the radio station, Aderonke Adesola, it stated that Marley’s songs have been placed on “Not to Be Broadcast” on the radio frequency by the station’s management

The post read, “Good evening, team. In view of the sensitive nature surrounding the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure initiated by the police, I urge us all to exercise discretion.

“To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB (not to be broadcast) on our station until further notice. This is with immediate effect. Thank you.”

Similarly, another radio station in Ibadan, Agidigbo 88.7 FM, has suspended the airplay of all songs from the Marlian Music label over the development.

In a statement made available on the Facebook page of a presenter at the station, Oriyomi Hamzat, late Monday, the station said the decision was taken in response to the public outcry that has continued to trail the rapper’s death.

The post read, “This is to inform the general public that Agidigbo 88.7 FM has suspended the airplay of all songs produced under the banner of Marlian Records, following the public outcry that has trailed the death of Mohbad and the alleged victimisation he experienced at the hands of people linked with the label before his death. #JusticeforMohbad.”

Recall that since Mohbad’s death was made public, some social media users have continued to express dissatisfaction over the alleged ill-treatment Mohbad was subjected to by his former record label, with many calling out the Marlian boss, Naira Marley, on social media platforms.
