Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN led by Bishop Francis Wale Oke, National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN)  has urged President Bola Tinubu to declare state of emergency on insecurity in Nigeria and use his executive power as the commander in chief of armed forces to crush insecurity.

This was gathered during a press conference held in Lagos on Thursday, 8th of February 2024.

Speaking to journalists, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, said Nigerians are facing serious security challenges and President Tinubu cannot solve the problem all by himself without the cooperation of all Nigerians.

”Nigerians are in pain, bloods of innocent Nigerians are flowing everywhere in Plateau, Benue, Ekiti among others. “We even learned that a group of people have issued a threat that is circulating on social media platforms all over the place threatening that because elections didn’t go their way and because the person who emerged as President is not doing their bidding they are going to make Nigeria ungovernable; that is illegal, the people that are issuing that threat are criminals, they should not be treated with kids gloves”.

He therefore assured President Tinubu of the PFN’s support.

“I want to assure you of the full cooperation of the PFN, the over 65 million Pentecostals in the country, we will cooperate with you, pray for you, give you advice, and give you the necessary information that will make you a success in dealing with various insecurity challenges in our Nation.”

Bishop Wale Oke also appealed to Nigerians to join hands together in making Nigeria great again.

He said: “President Bola Tinubu cannot solve the problem all by himself, he cannot even do anything without our corporation we need to cooperate knowing that we have no other ration we can call our own. Nigeria is our own when we cooperate we forget our political differences and the wounds we suffered in the last elections then we can build a United Nigeria”.

On the creation of state police, the organisation stated that Nigeria does not have enough manpower to tackle the security situation of the country.

“We don’t have enough manpower to handle the level of the manpower that is needed to tackle the security situation of the country, We believe that our security men are very committed, but they are overstretched, and one of the ways to deal with that is to put more boots on the ground. Therefore, state police are needed urgently to combat our security situation in the country”.

”One of the things to do is to use people who are familiar with the locations so that they can penetrate anywhere and find out where crimes are being done. State police is urgently needed to combat our security situation in the country.

Finally, on food insecurity, Bishop Oke explained that Nigerians are hungry and that prices of food commodities are escalating every day.

“What Nigerians earn is not even sufficient to fuel their cars or generators talk less of food. Nigerians are in pain, fuel subsidy has been removed, and the prices of petroleum products have jumped up, food prices are jumping up”.

“So, Mr. President, we need for you to work on the economic problems of Nigeria and provide solutions urgently. We are praying for you, we will give you counsel, if you need anything from us just tell us and we will be there because we want to join hands with you to build a peaceful, secure, prosperous Nigeria where people are not hungry. We believe Nigerians have no problem with hunger; Nigerians have no problem with poverty if things are done well”.
