EPL: See Full List As Man Utd Confirm Departure Of Seven Players

Manchester United have confirmed seven players including Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane will leave the club this summer – with four stars offered new contracts.

The Red Devils released their traditional retained list on Wednesday afternoon, with stars now having had their futures confirmed. French duo Martial and Varane had already announced their exits.

The pair bid an emotional farewell to Old Trafford on the penultimate match of the season They still however had time to celebrate the club’s FA Cup success at Wembley.

Joining Varane and Martial leaving was academy graduate Brandon Williams. The defender spent last season on loan with Ipswich having accumulated over 50 appearances for the club.

Elsewhere, fellow academy graduates Charlie McNeill, Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley are all set to leave. On the departing youngsters, Man United confirmed: “The Academy is proud of all our departing young players throughout the age groups.

They will be supported in securing contracts at new clubs, provided with a bespoke aftercare programme, and will always have a lifelong association with Manchester United.

At the other end of the spectrum, veteran midfielder Tom Huddlestone is also departing. The 37-year-old moved to Old Trafford in August 2022 to act as a player-coach for the Red Devils’ under-21 side.

While there are several departures, Man United have also announced that a clutch of players could yet extend their stays. Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are in talks over possible new contracts.

Omari Forson has also been offered fresh terms, with the same true of Shola Shoretire. Fellow youngster Alvaro Fernandez will however be leaving having done enough to secure a permanent move to Benfica.

The dressing room overhaul at Old Trafford looks unlikely to end there, with a host of players facing uncertain futures. Casemiro has been linked with a move away, while a decision needs to be made on Jadon Sancho’s place at the club.

He spent the second half of last season on loan with Borussia Dortmund and helped the German side reach the Champions League final. They are keen to keep him for next term but his high wages make a permanent move difficult.

Talks will be held between Man United officials and Sancho’s representatives to decide on the next stage. He has not played for the club since a public spat with boss Erik ten Hag.
