Wayne Rooney Sacked As Plymouth Argyle Manager
Wayne Rooney has been dismissed as Plymouth Argyle manager after just 25 games, with the club sitting at the bottom of the Championship table.
Recall that the former England and Manchester United captain took charge of the Devon-based side over the summer, marking his third managerial stint in the English second tier after spells at Derby County and Birmingham City.
Under Rooney’s leadership, Plymouth managed only five wins across all competitions and suffered 13 league defeats, leaving the Pilgrims with just four victories in the Championship this season.
In a statement, the club announced: “Plymouth Argyle can confirm that the club and Head Coach Wayne Rooney have mutually agreed to part ways with immediate effect.”
Assistant Head Coach Mike Phelan and First Team Coach Simon Ireland will also depart alongside Rooney.
