Arsenal‘s defender, Gabriel will miss the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury requiring surgery.

The Brazilian was forced off the pitch during the first half of Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel, a key player in Arsenal’s defense, has started 28 of the club’s 30 Premier League matches this season, contributing to their league-best defensive record of just 25 goals conceded.

Arsenal have confirmed that the 27-year-old will undergo surgery in the coming days and begin his rehabilitation program to return to full fitness for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, to be ready for the start of next season,” the club stated.

Gabriel’s absence is expected to have a significant impact on Arsenal’s performance.

Statistics from Premier League Injuries indicate a substantial drop in the team’s win percentage when he is not in the lineup.

Arsenal has won 63.5% of the 159 league games he has played since his debut, compared to just 40.9% of the 22 matches he has missed.

This injury adds to the growing list of hamstring injuries in the Premier League this season, with 119 cases reported so far, averaging four per round of games. Last season saw a five-year high of 163 hamstring injuries.

Arsenal, currently second in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool, face a challenging period with eight matches remaining.

The Gunners are also preparing for a crucial Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid, with the first leg in north London on April 8th and the second leg at the Bernabeu on April 16th.
