Dangote Reacts To Phyna Sister’s Death, Ruth Otabor

Dangote has expressed condolences to the family of former Big Brother Naija winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, over the death of her sister, Ruth Otabor.
Recall that Ruth lost her life after a tragic auto crash involving one of the company’s trucks near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
In a statement made available by the management to newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Dangote Group expressed its sympathies to the family, loved ones, friends, and associates of the victim over her demise.
The company said that since the accident, its insurance partner has been taking care of her medical bills and supporting her family, expressing regret that she died while it was waiting for clearance from her doctors to fly her to India for advanced treatment.
The statement read: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road accident involving one of our trucks in Auchi.
“On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.
“Since the accident, our officials and our insurance partners have been by her side, covering financial and medical costs and supporting her family.
“Arrangements have been made for her to be flown to India for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance from her doctors.
Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today.
“At Dangote Group, safety, accountability, and compassion remain at the core of our operations.
We remain committed to strengthening our system and supporting those affected in moments of tragedy.
“May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” it added.
