VIDEO: Flashback To Moment Ned Nwoko Said He Married Regina Daniels Due To Pressure Not Love

An old interview featuring Senator Ned Nwoko, has resurfaced online amid the ongoing marital crisis between him and Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, shedding new light on the foundation of their union.
In the viral footage recorded in 2024 by Seun Okinbaloye, Nwoko openly confessed that he did not marry Regina Daniels out of love but did so under intense pressure from his family, who insisted he take a wife from his hometown.
“For her, particularly, I married her because she is from my place. I was under pressure from my family,” Nwoko stated, adding that he never believed in dating before marriage and often married his wives within weeks of meeting them.
In a previously granted BBC interview, Nwoko explained that he met Regina for the first time when she visited his residence with her mother and siblings.
According to him, he had no prior knowledge of her acting career and did not court her before proposing.
“We married within three weeks. I don’t believe in dating anybody to marry them.
When you marry them, you need to fall in love from within the marriage,” he said at the time.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to polygamy, stating that Regina was aware he might take more wives in the future because of his background and desire for more children.
The resurfacing of the old video has intensified public debate, especially as the couple’s six-year marriage now faces its most turbulent phase since it made headlines in 2019, when Regina, then 19, married the 59-year-old lawmaker as his sixth wife.
Recall that this is coming after Regina accused her husband of repeatedly assaulting her and claimed she could no longer endure the alleged abuse.
The 64-year-old lawmaker countered, alleging that the 25-year-old actress was addicted to drugs and had destroyed his property under the influence.
