1. Residents of Shanono Local Government Area in Kano State have raised the alarm over recurring attacks by armed bandits allegedly crossing over from neighbouring Katsina State to unleash terror on their communities. Briefing newsmen, leader of Farin-Ruwa community, Alhaji Yahaya Bagobiri, appealed to the government to urgently intervene before the situation gets out of control.

2. The South East geopolitical zone is set to get a major political boost as the Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on Constitution Review has unanimously approved the creation of an additional state in the region, bringing the total number to six.

3. Former Benue State Governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Samuel Ortom, has restated his commitment to repositioning the party in the state to reclaim power in the 2027 general elections. Ortom made the declaration at the weekend in Makurdi, while hosting members of the PDP G-14 and other key stakeholders.

4. A devastating accident occurred in Lagos early Saturday when a truck skidded off the Oshodi bridge and plunged into the bus station below. According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened along the Apapa–Oshodi Expressway, inward Mile 2. The truck, which was fully loaded with toner printing materials, reportedly lost control while descending the bridge, resulting in the crash.

5. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, his family, aides and associates on Saturday held a memorial service in honour of his late wife and former First Lady, Mrs Stella Obasanjo, twenty years after her demise. A memorial service was held in her honour on Saturday at the Chapel of Christ King of Glory, located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

6. The Edo State Police Command has confirmed a gruesome incident following the circulation of viral videos showing two young men brutally attacked, one of whom had his hand severed. The command said it has launched a full-scale investigation into the matter.

7. The Police Command in Delta State has apprehended a suspected arms peddler in the state. The spokesman of the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Warri. Edafe said that a female suspect was also arrested alongside the suspected hoodlum.

8. The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested four suspects, including a young woman, for the gruesome murder of a man allegedly killed by his lover and her accomplices in Gidan Kacha village, Gada Local Government Area of the state. Police investigations revealed that the victim, Ali Salisu of Darnawa village, was lured to his death by his girlfriend, Rukayya Amadu, who allegedly conspired with another lover, Hamisu Ibrahim, to rob and murder him.

9. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kebbi, has rejected the reported nomination of Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu as the party’s National Chairman..The party’s spokesperson in the state, Alhaji Sani Dododo, stated this in while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

10. The Police command in Lagos State has confirmed the death of the Divisional Police Officer of Festac Division, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mrs Matilda Ngbaronye. She said CSP Ngbaronye died on Friday after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.
