ICYMI: Regina Daniels Kinsmen Reportedly Give Ned Nwoko 48 Hours To Accept Bride Price
Regina Daniels’ kinsmen from the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, to accept the bride price paid for the marriage or face a traditional declaration that the union has ended.
The demand was contained in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community, accusing the senator of “disregarding local customs” and allegedly using his political influence to intimidate members of Regina’s family.
According to the kinsmen, their tradition gives any woman the right to exit a marriage, provided the family returns the bride price.
They claimed that several attempts to return the payment had been rejected by Nwoko, insisting that if he refuses again, the money would be publicly dropped at Ikeleke Quarter, a symbolic act that marks the end of the marriage under Ogwashi-Uku custom.
The letter also condemned the alleged arrest of Regina’s siblings, calling it an act of oppression.
It noted that Regina’s family is demanding the immediate release of those detained.
Recall that this is coming after Regina Daniels’ recent allegation that the senator ordered the arrest of her brother and sister after she declined to return to him.
