1. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday evening had a close-door meeting with the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the State House, Abuja. The Kano governor arrived at the State House some minutes past 4 pm and was led towards the President’s office by the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.

2. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday unveiled the final list of candidates for the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, leaving out the Peoples Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party. The document obtained by our correspondent showed that the names of PDP’s candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, and his SDP counterpart, David Bankole, were not included.

3. President Bola Tinubu has conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on his longtime associate, Gilbert Chagoury. In a letter sighted by journalists, the president said Chagoury was given Nigeria’s second highest honour because of his contributions to the country.

4. Bandits have raided churches in Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting over 170 worshippers. According to witnesses, the attackers struck during church services on Sunday.

5. Workers on Monday shut the gates of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, the Federal Capital Development Authority, and several other agencies as they began an indefinite strike over unresolved welfare issues. The workers also rejected the ban on staff of the Abuja Geographic Information System from using mobile phones in their offices by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

6. Malam Auwal, father of the prime suspect arrested over the killing of seven family members in Dorayi Chiranchi area of Kano metropolis, has called on authorities to swiftly punish his son, Umar Auwal, without delay. He said there is no need for prosecution, that the son should be killed with immediate effect.

7. An Inspector of Police identified as Victor Okus, has shot two of his colleagues, following an altercation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Although the cause of the shooting is still sketchy, it was gathered that the policemen attached to 17 Police Mobile Force, PMF, were on special duty at Intels, Onne before the incident happened.

8. Two middle-aged men died over the weekend in Odukpani, near Calabar, Cross River State, following a knife fight where both inflicted severe knife cuts on each other. The knife fight took place in a community called Akpap -Okoyong in Odukpani Local Government Area of the state over a missing bunch of plantain.

9. The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State said it is poised to enrol about six million new members as the ruling party begins e-registration. ‎The State APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, stated this while speaking during the flag-off of the exercise and training of local council supervisors and ward agents held at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt on Monday.

10. Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, was reportedly taken into custody by the Department of State Services, DSS, on Monday. DSS officials took the former minister shortly after he left Kuje Prison, following the completion of his bail conditions.
