The Federal Government has announced the re-opening of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps across the country.

News Rain Nigeria gathered that the announcement was made on Thursday by the Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare.

COVID-19: FG Orders Reopening NYSC Camp

He posted on his official Twitter handle @sundaydareSD: “The Resumption of the NYSC Orientation Camp for prospective Youth Corpers has been approved and opens on November 10th, 2020. Full COVID-19 Protocols will be enforced.”

It will be recalled that NYSC orientation camps were closed nationwide following the break out of the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide.

Meanwhile, recently, the scheme denied an earlier call for reopening of the camps, then the Director, Press and Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi of NYSC denied a news release speculating that the Orientation Course shall resume 27th October 2020, with Batch “A” Stream 2, which it adds has further been subdivided into Batches “A” and “B”.

She said that the news release was fake hence, advising prospective Corps Members and the public to disregard the news in its entirety.

Adeyemi said that the management of the scheme has been working with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to ensure the reopening of NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide, which the PTF had earlier tied to the resumption of educational institutions in the country.

She then urged the prospective corps members to stay tuned to NYSC’s traditional and new media platforms for authentic information.

It is believed that the new announcement by the Minister on his Twitter page is authentic.
