Governor Abiodun has responded to misleading reports of Awujale’s selection.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has dismissed circulating reports suggesting a confrontation between him and the Council of Afobajes over the Awujale selection, describing them as completely false and misleading.

According to a statement signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, on Thursday, the Governor held a respectful consultative meeting with the Council of Afobajes, similar to previous engagements he had with the Olori Ebis.

These earlier meetings, the statement said, helped harmonize traditional stakeholders and even led to one of the kingmakers withdrawing a filed litigation.

“The discussions focused on matters of mutual concern in the interest of the progress in traditional affairs within Ijebuland,” the statement added.

The statement also addressed specific claims circulating online, noting that statements such as “No Kuye, No Awujale” are entirely fabricated.

“No Afobaje will attest to such an occurrence, as it never happened,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the governor remains committed to due process, respecting the autonomy of traditional institutions, and ensuring a fair process in the selection of a new Awujale.

“His administration continues to prioritize dialogue, harmony, and the preservation of cultural values,” the statement emphasized.

The statement further revealed that members of the public, traditional stakeholders, and the media are urged to disregard unfounded rumors and rely solely on verified information from official sources
