COVID-19 Struck Again, As El-Rufai, Sanwo-Olu Goes Into Self Isolation

The duo of Governor El- Rufai and Sanwo-Olu have proceed on self isolation.

 

News Rain Nigeria gathered that both the Kaduna and Lagos State Governors, Nasri El-Rufai and Babajide Sanwo-Olu are now proceeding on self- isolation following what is possible to be a second phase of the deadly Covid-19 pandemics.

Governor Nasri El-Rufai officially declared his intentions on going for self-isolation on Friday night through a broadcast on his social media handles.

As El-Rufai, Sanwo-Olu Goes Into Self Isolation

El- Rufai decision was believe to have came after a result of a positive results of the Covid-19 test conducted by his immediate family member and a Senior Government Officials in his cabinet were released.

El-Rufai maintained that he hoped to be tested for the virus on Sunday after which more details would be provided, but did not disclosed the identities of the family member and the government officials.

El-Rufai who had earlier tested positive for the virus sometimes in March this year, stressed that going on self isolation, will be a precautionary move that complies with the standard Covid-19 protocols.

El Rufai said, “I have been notified of more positive Covid-19 test results of persons close to me, including an immediate family member and senior officials of the Kaduna State Government.

“I am therefore in self-isolation and hope to be tested by Sunday. This is purely a precautionary move that complies with the standard Covid-19 protocols. There will be another update when the test results are ready.

“I appeal to every resident of Kaduna State to observe and  abide by the preventive protocols against Covid-19, especially wearing facemasks, avoiding large gatherings, practising physical distancing  and washing their hands regularly.”

In a similar situation the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has decided to go on self – Isolation following a positive Confirmed Covid-19 test of one of his aide.

The development according to the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who stressed that Governor Sanwo-Olu and other members of his team would be tested by the Lagos State biobank on Friday but will remain in Isolation until the results of the tests are available.

Prof. Abayomi said “We are seeing slightly increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in clusters in Lagos and all Lagosians should adhere to the prescribed advisories of safe distancing, good hand and respiratory hygiene and avoidance of unnecessary gatherings.

” This is not the first time Mr. Governor is having the COVID-19 test. He has had at least three since May when he announced that 10 of his aides had tested positive for the virus.”

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will go into self-isolation immediately, after one of his  close aides tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday (10th of December). Abayomi confirmed.
