US Election Update: Saraki, Others Congratulates First Nigerian U.S Congressman
Bukola Saraki has congratulated Nigerian-born Democrat, Oye Owolewa for being elected as a Representative in the District of Columbia, United States.
News Rain Nigeria gathered that as felicitations have begun to pour in, the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki joined other Nigerians to congratulate the Kwara-born American Democrat on his victory.

Saraki on his Twitter handle on Wednesday described Owolewa’s convincing victory at the polls as “a great testament to the ‘can do’ spirit of all Nigeria’s young people.”
He wrote: “I congratulate Oye Owolewa (@AdeoyeOwolewa), on his election as a shadow U.S. Representative for the District of Columbia. His convincing victory at the polls is a great testament to the ‘can do’ spirit of all Nigeria’s young people.

It is reported that based on the election results, Oye had 82.65% of the votes, which represents 135,234 votes against Joyce Robinson-Paul, who had 15,541 votes, and Sohaer Syed with 12,846 votes.
Oye Owolewa, 30, hails from Omu-Aran in Kwara state.
Recall that News Rain Nigeria reported that Owolewa is one out of the nine Nigerian-Americans contesting in the U.S. elections.
Owolewa holds a Ph.D. holder in Pharmacy from Northeastern University, Boston.
