UPDATE: Maina To Remain In Prison Until End Of Trial
Abdulrasheed Maina has been remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility
News Rain Nigeria reports that the Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja has ordered Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team to be remanded in the prison.
Justice Abang on Friday, 4th December 2020, in his ruling, ordered that Abdulrasheed Maina should as a matter of urgency remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility.
Maina To Remain In Prison Until End Of Trial
Justice Abang also ordered that Maina’s trial will be resumed in his absence.
News Rain Nigeria gathered that the court had on November 18, ordered security agencies in the country to arrest Maina wherever he might be found after Maina, over alleged money laundering to the tune of N2 billion, stopped attending proceedings in September setting Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno south, who stood as his surety against the law.
Maina however was arrested at the Republic of Niger by the Nigerian Police following his escape from the country in a bid to evade trial.
Maina was bundled back to Nigeria on Thursday and subsequently brought to court on Friday.
