News Rain Nigeria gathered that the Borno State Governor, Alhaji Babagana Umara Zulum has signed into law 2021 bill jerked up to N248b.

The appropriation bill which was initially sum at N208 as proposed by the Governor Zulum, has however been jerked up to N248billion through an explanation offered on the new development by the State House of Assembly, which stated that the new added figure will cater for industrial projects by the Borno Plastic industry and the Maiduguri International Hotel and other series of projects as specified in the budget.

Zulum Sign 2021 N248b Into Law

The development has however led to the passage into law of the 2021 appropriation bill by the State House of Assembly members, as well as the signing of the bill into law by the State Governor, Alhaji Babagana Umara Zulum on Monday.

The House of Assembly also maintained that other projects contained in the budget will be made public after publication.

While signing the jerked budget, Governor Zulum at the Government House Maiduguri, called on the agencies Ministries and departments to comply strictly with  the provisions  of the 2021 appreciation bill, stressing that all his cabinet members should as matter of urgency work effectively to maintain the implementation of the budget is well secure for the maximum benefits of citizenry and residents of the State.

Zulum who had in his initial presentation proposed N135.1b was for capital projects which represented 65% of the budget sum, and N72b for recurrent.

Zulum maintained that in this year, 2021, his administration will sustain its priority on security, education, Healthcare, Agriculture, provision of portable water as well as reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of internally displaced persons and refugees.

He said: “I appreciate the leadership and members of the Borno State House of Assembly for their cooperation with the executive arm.

Shortly before the signing of the budget by Governor Zulum, the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan explained the increase of the budget from N208b to N248b is to cater for industrial growth that will increase job opportunities.

The signing of the bill was also ascertained by the State attorney general and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan.

Barrister Lawan also stressed that the Governor’s assent was a constitutional requirement for the bill passed by the assembly to become law of the state, he also applauded the State House of Assembly for their maturity and effectiveness in passage of the bill.
