Alaafin of Oyo: See Programmes For First Remembrance Anniversary

Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, one the sons of late revered Yoruba foremost traditional ruler, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo has announced series of programmes for remembrance and one-year anniversary of the passage of his father.

Recall that Oba Adeyemi died aged 83 on 22 April 2022 after developing complications related to prostate enlargement.

He was on the throne for 51 years, the longest reign of any Alaafin of Oyo in modern recorded history.

Adeyemi, a member of the Nigeria Federal House of Representatives representing the Afijio, Oyo West, Oyo East, Atiba West federal constituency paid tribute to his father in a post on his Facebook page on Saturday morning to mark one year anniversary of the monarch’s passage.

In the post titled: “Rest On, Kabiyesi: A Year Without Our Father,” the lawmaker also announced series of programmes put together to mark the one-year anniversary and immortalise the late Alaafin of Oyo.
