Governor Soludo Condemns Deceitful One-Term Promise of Politicians

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has condemned the wrongful acts of politicians who, in their campaigns, promise to rule for a single term in office, misleading the people to vote for them, with mouthwatering promises that cannot be fulfilled, or even scratched.

The governor, who was a guest on Arise TV on Wednesday, 20th of August, 2025, stated that when a process of zoning is established in a State, some politicians would come with sweet promises on their manifestos, requesting votes to only stay one term, and this is being clever, only for self-aggrandizement.

This, the erstwhile Governor of the country’s apex banking institution, the Central Bank, stated, is an ingenious move to play on the people’s intelligence, not unfolding what their intentions are.

Governor Soludo referred to the case in Anambra when, in 2017, his predecessor was running for a second term, stating that some came here telling Anambra people that they would run for one term, but the people voted massively for APGA.

He stated, “Now again we are in for another election and some people are saying that l am from the South, and the North just finished and handed over to the South, and the South would serve its term and go to the Central.

And now some people from the South Senatorial zone are showing up, because they are now saying if you vote for me, they will do this, and will spend only one term.

Governor Soludo added, “Meanwhile, you will see the manifesto that they are rolling out, even if they are to spend 20 years, they won’t even scratch it.

I don’t know how to describe it; they are just playing on the people’s intelligence.

Just thinking the people of Anambra State are fools, taking them through the lies, the deception. This thing must have a mental issue.”
