Gbagada Jasmine Lions Club Installs Uchechi Akpan As President

The Gbagada Jasmine Lions Club, District 404-A3 Nigeria, has installed Lion Uchechi Akpan as its 12th president, marking the beginning of a new service year themed “Passion for Service”.
Speaking at the investiture, installation of new club officers, induction of fresh members, and fundraising ceremony held at Witsspring Suites, Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos, District Governor, Lion Mary Onu, while congratulating the new president and her cabinet, emphasized that true leadership thrives on collaboration, and urged them to do their best in humanitarian services.
She said that collective achievement and shared responsibility remain the foundation of successful Lions service.
In her valedictory speech, outgoing president, Lion Vivien Anoka Okeke, represented by Lion Patricia, expressed gratitude to members for their dedication and passion, described her tenure as unforgettable, and urged the new leader to stay united, compassionate, and driven to serve, adding that, under her tenure, the club grew in vibrancy and completed several sanitation and social projects.
Delivering the keynote address, Lion Joyce Akpata reminded members that ‘Lions lead to serve and serve to lead’, emphasizing that true leadership is measured not by titles but by lives touched.
In her acceptance speech, Lion Uchechi Akpan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to expand the club’s impact through innovation and collaboration.
She revealed her key projects to include, but not limited to, renovation of classrooms and school toilets, as well, data-driven community outreach, to ensure initiatives align with actual needs; pledged transparency, teamwork, and inclusivity.
Under her leadership, she said the club aims to strengthen partnerships, boost membership and leverage digital tools, and amplify service delivery.
The new service year, according to Akpan, will also focus on health awareness, youth empowerment, vision care, and environmental protection, aligning with Lions Club International’s global humanitarian goals.
