1. Nigeria’s power grid once again collapsed on Monday, plunging several cities into darkness. A check on the website of the Nigerian Independent System Operator, NISO showed hourly generation dropped sharply from 2660.77 megawatts around 2pm to 139.92MW by 3pm.

2. Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road accident which claimed two lives along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, on Monday. It was gathered vehicle carrying Joshua, a Lexus Jeep marked KRD 850 HN, reportedly collided with a stationary truck along the highway.

3. Barring any last-minute change, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf is set to dump the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. Multiple sources said on Monday that the governor is likely to defect with or without the blessing of his political mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

4. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has attacked Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for saying that he, Wike promised to “hold” the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for President Bola Tinubu. Wike, who denied the allegation, also took on his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, noting that his defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress came late without any established political structure to support his new party.

5. The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, has described himself as better prepared to tackle Nigeria’s economic and security challenges if given the chance. He said none of those currently seeking to contest 2027 presidential election can boast of starting, managing a small business and growing it into a big corporation as he did.

6. No fewer than three persons lost their lives following a clash between security operatives and suspected drug peddlers at Koraman Nayalle, Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, in Katsina metropolis. The incident began when security operatives attempted to arrest a suspected drug peddler identified as Uzairu, popularly known as Kuda, during which his mobile phone and suspected illicit drugs were confiscated.

7. The Nigerian Army has recovered petroleum products valued at over N150 million and arrested 19 suspected oil thieves in its ongoing operations against crude oil theft in the Niger Delta. The troops also dismantled 22 illegal crude refining sites across the region.

8. Fuel marketers have confirmed that the Port Harcourt Refining Company has supplied them with about 15 trucks of diesel daily since it was shut down for maintenance on May 24, 2025. This indicated that the marketers have lifted up to 3,150 trucks of diesel in the past seven months since the plant stopped producing.

9. Eight persons have been killed following coordinated attacks by gunmen on Kaiwa, Gelawu and Gebbe villages in Shanga LGA of Kebbi State, triggering panic and mass displacement of residents. This was as 16 women were abducted in Zamfara State with two others killed.

10. Seven journalists have been confirmed killed in a lone crash that occurred in the Gombe South area of Gombe State on Monday. It was learnt that the accident occurred on Monday evening as the journalists were returning from a wedding ceremony in Gombe South Senatorial District.
