“With great sadness 💔😭, we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnanu Adeoye (OMIJE OJUMI), who passed away on 12th January 2026 at a Lagos hospital in Nigeria,” it reads.
“May God grant her eternal rest 🙏.”
Recall that Bunmi’s death came a few months after she had appealed for prayers and divine healing while battling a serious leg ailment.
The incident occurred in October 2025 during a service at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
A video captured the ‘Omije Ojumi’ hitmaker seated with her leg stretched out on a chair, receiving prayer from a pastor.
An intravenous (IV) cannula was visible attached to her hand, underscoring the severity of her condition.
Addressing the congregation, the cleric revealed that the singer had been suffering from persistent bleeding in her leg, which he identified as a spiritual attack, calling it an “arrow.
He prayed against what he termed the “spirit of death,” commanding it to leave her body.
Akinnaanu, who began singing at the age of 10, left a career in banking to pursue music full-time.
She rose to prominence with her hit song ‘Omije Ojumi’ — a song that captured the hearts of many Nigerian Christians and became a staple in churches and homes across the country.
She built on that success with a series of uplifting releases over the years, including ‘O Ti Sure’.
Tributes have begun to pour in for the deceased singer following news of her death.
