Access Holdings has warned the public over a fake WhatsApp group impersonating its chairman, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that Access Holdings Plc has alerted the public over a fraudulent WhatsApp group created by scammers who are impersonating its Chairman, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, in an attempt to lure unsuspecting individuals into a fake investment scheme.

The fraudsters reportedly created a WhatsApp group named “Value Focus Club 60” using the phone number +234 915 708 8290, while also using the Chairman’s photograph to make the platform appear legitimate and trustworthy.

However, the company clarified that Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede is not operating any WhatsApp investment group, noting that Access Holdings Plc does not offer investment advice or opportunities via WhatsApp or any unofficial messaging platform.

The scam was reportedly discovered by a whistleblower who raised the alarm, prompting the warning to members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with the fraudulent group.

The statement reads: The public has been advised to take the following precautions.

“Do not join the WhatsApp group or engage the scammers.”

“Avoid sharing personal, financial, or banking information.”

“Block and report the suspicious number on WhatsApp.”

“Inform others to prevent them from falling victim.”

“Access Holdings Plc is currently taking steps to shut down the fraudulent group, while urging the public to verify any investment opportunities through official company channels.”

The company went further to emphasize that increased public awareness remains critical in preventing financial fraud and protecting unsuspecting individuals from scams.
