The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has shut down a base station owned by telecoms company, Globacom, in Wuse 2 Abuja over a debt to the tune of N5 billion.

According to reports, the NCAA DG, Capt. Musa Nuhu led a team of security operatives to the Glo centre for the enforcement.

Capt. Nuhu said the agency will continue to disable Glo’s Main Switch Centres across the country until the telecom company commits to a payment schedule.

It was disclosed that Globacom owed the NCAA close to N5 billion over the illegal erection of high structures and refusal to renew expired aviation height clearance certificates, and has for years, refused to honour meetings with NCAA to discuss a payment plan.

This, however, forced the NCAA to earlier threaten to commence the dismantling of Globacom’s masts across the country, according to details contained in a letter the aviation authority had earlier written to the telecom company.
