Popular Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso has been laid to rest

Solatul Janazzah (Prayer for the Dead) was earlier observed for the singer in Ojota, Lagos State today.

She was later laid to rest in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State this afternoon.

A popular Islamic channel on YouTube and Social Media, YAYI TV, confirmed this in a Facebook post.

It read, “Alh. Rukayat Gawat is no more May Allah be pleased with her – Amin.

“Her funeral (Janazah prayer) will take place in Ijebu Aiyepe Ogun State today by noon – may Allah be pleased with her soul.”

Recall that brother to the deceased, Jubril Gawat, who is a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu confirmed her death by quoting a Quran verse on his X account this morning.

His post read, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156

His post has garnered so much traction with followers and associates expressing their condolences.

She was well-known for her captivating voice and religious music that resonated with many in the Muslim community.

The late artiste on September 14, 2024, did a 12-year remembrance for her missing dad, the popular Islamic presenter and broadcaster, Aremu Gawat, whose whereabouts remained unknown since July 2012.
