Lagos State Government Shuts Major Roads As Tinubu Departs Abuja To Lagos (See Alternative Routes)
President Tinubu is scheduled to arrive in Lagos on Tuesday for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Summit, which will take place at NIIA House and Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island.
In preparation for his visit, the Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan aimed at ensuring smooth vehicular movement and enhanced security during the event.
The travel advisory, issued on Monday, outlines alternative routes for motorists who may be affected by the summit’s security arrangements.
According to the government, motorists heading from Eko Hotel Roundabout to Lagos Island or the Mainland should take Adetokunbo Ademola Road, pass the Civic Centre, and turn left onto Ozumba Mbadiwe Road.
From there, they are advised to drive straight to Bonny Camp Roundabout and turn right toward Lagos Island or the Mainland. Alternatively, they can access their destination via the Falomo Ramp by the Nigerian Law School.
For those moving from Eko Hotel Roundabout to Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku, or inner roads, motorists coming from Ajose Adeogun or Adetokunbo Ademola should navigate through Sanusi Fafunwa Street, connect to Akin Adesola Road, and turn left at the junction to reach Ahmadu Bello Way, Atlantic City, or Adeola Odeku. A right turn at the junction leads to Falomo Bridge or back to the Law School.
Motorists exiting from the Lagos Continental Hotel end towards Bonny Camp or Ozumba Mbadiwe Road should connect to Kilimanjaro Junction on Ozumba Mbadiwe and turn left for Bonny Camp Roundabout, or right for Lekki via Ozumba Mbadiwe.
Those coming from Bonny Camp to Kofo Abayomi Road are advised to use Ozumba Mbadiwe Road and turn right at Kilimanjaro Junction to reach their destination via the Lagos Continental Hotel.
Meanwhile, motorists approaching the Eko Hotel axis from Independence or McEwen Bridge are advised to turn left at the IMB Junction on Ahmadu Bello Way, link to Akin Adesola Road, and continue through inner streets.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) is expected to be on ground to manage vehicular flow and minimize disruption during the summit.
