1. Bandits were said to have killed three persons and abducted at least 64 others on Saturday at Fegin Baza village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. It was gathered that children and women were among the abductees taken to an unknown destination.

2. The newly elected national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has said the party is open to a broad opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, saying all options that strengthen democracy are on the table. Turaki said the PDP would prioritise rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges.

3. Benue State government has intensified its education reforms with a total ban on illegal levies in all public and private schools and the compulsory introduction of electronic dossiers (e-Dossiers) for learners across the state. Executive Secretary of the Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examination Board, BEQAEB, Dr Terna Francis, disclosed this during the board’s maiden meeting with school principals in Makurdi.

4. Senate President Godswill Akpabio says it is the responsibility of the government to restore peace and unity in Plateau State and Nigeria, adding that no foreign intervention can bring lasting stability to the country. Speaking on Saturday at the Jos Polo Field during the formal reception of political detectors into the All Progressives Congress in the state, Akpabio urged Nigerians to also take ownership of the peace process.

5. Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State will formally defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday, November 19. Governor Kefas confirmed the planned defection during an inspection of renovation works at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, the state capital, at the weekend.

The nation’s electricity supply may face a major crisis as the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, has threatened a nationwide shutdown, following an alleged attack on the staff of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, by armed police officers at Egbu 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Imo State.

7. An autopsy report has confirmed that a former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ondo State, Mr Bamidele Akingboye, was murdered. The Lagos State Police Command says it is awaiting advice from the Department of Public Prosecution to press charges against anyone found culpable of the murder of Akingboye.

8. Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, a young Nigerian Navy officer involved in a recent altercation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, reportedly escaped an attempted trail by unidentified individuals in Abuja last night. According to sources, men in two unmarked Hilux vans without name tags followed Yerima from the NIPCO Filling Station along the Kubwa Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.

9. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has urged Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, “to promptly account for and explain the whereabouts of the missing or diverted N3 trillion of public funds, as documented in the recently published 2022 annual report by the Auditor-General of the Federation.” SERAP said the grave allegations are documented in the latest annual report published by the Auditor-General on 9 September 2025.

10. A 12-year-old girl, identified as Nabilat, has died after falling into a domestic well at Ikoyi Community, Irewolede area of Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State. It was gathered on Sunday that the tragic incident occurred around 10:35am on Saturday when the victim reportedly went to fetch water but slipped and fell into the well.
