Top Nigerian Newspaper Headlines And Naija News For Thursday, 27th November 2025.

1. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday declared a nationwide security emergency in response to the wave of violent attacks across parts of the country, announcing sweeping directives for expanded recruitment into the Armed Forces and Police, the activation of forest guards, and tighter security measures for all vulnerable areas.

2. President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of three non-career ambassadors. This is coming nearly two years after Tinubu recalled all Nigerian ambassadors, both career and non‑career, in September 2023. Tinubu made the request in a letter addressed to the Senate and read on Wednesday, November 26 by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

3. The African Democratic Congress rose from its coalition meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, criticising the Federal Government’s handling of the prevailing insecurity in the country, alleging that the strategy being employed by the present administration is enabling the bandits economy to flourish. The party said the policy of school closure shows that the government is surrendering to the ideology of Boko Haram.

4. A former Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, has written to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, asking the commission to give him a date for his appearance. In a letter he personally signed, Sylva, a former Governor of Bayelsa State, particularly frowned at the EFCC for declaring him wanted over an alleged $14.8million fraud.

5. Suspected bandits on Wednesday invaded Aiyetoro Kiri, a settlement in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing two residents in the process. The armed men were said to have stormed the community and opened fire indiscriminately to scare residents. According to locals, the attackers appeared to be heading toward the town’s high school.

6. The Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos on Wednesday, says it has intercepted a consignment of 300 rounds of live ammunition and other contraband following credible intelligence. Police Public Relations Officer, of the FCID, ASP Aminat Mayegun, confirmed this while briefing journalists in Lagos.

7. A devastating fire broke out at Ngobros Factory, located at 11 Obidiah Road, Abubor Nnewi-Ichi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State, destroying goods and property worth several millions of naira. Although the cause of the fire remains unknown, it was reported to have originated from a corner of the factory and burning equipment and inventory before the arrival of the state fire service.

8. Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has dismissed as “fabricated, malicious and laughable” a circulating report alleging that he is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress, APC, after a purported secret meeting with former PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, in Makurdi. In a statement issued Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor insisted that the story was “a wicked, mischievous and vicious smear campaign” aimed at distracting him.

9. The Police Command in Ondo State on Monday arrested a suspected kidnapper and rescued a couple in Itaogbolu community of Akure North Local Government Area of the state. DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the command’s Spokesperson, who made this known in a statement, said the breakthrough was recorded in the early hours of Monday at about 5:30 a.m.

10. The Senate on Wednesday took a firm stance against the country’s worsening insecurity, declaring kidnapping a form of terrorism and recommending the death penalty for offenders, without the option of fines or judicial discretion to reduce sentences.
