PINL have rewarded pipeline security success with free medical care for 800 Bayelsa residents.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has provided free medical services and relief materials to over 800 people across 60 communities in Bayelsa State as part of what it describes as the Niger Delta’s largest Christmas corporate social responsibility initiative.

The beneficiaries come from communities in Southern Ijaw, Ogbia, and Yenagoa local government areas, all host communities along the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) eastern corridor, which PINL secures.

Dr. Akpos Mezeh, PINL’s General Manager for Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement, said the program celebrates the communities’ achievement of maintaining zero pipeline infractions throughout the past year while also helping residents cope with economic challenges.

The medical outreach provided eye tests, blood sugar screenings, eyeglasses, treatment for common ailments, and referrals for specialised care. Dr. Sokaribo Oweredaba, head of PINL’s medical team, confirmed the program reached over 800 people with these essential health services.

Mezeh noted that flooding remains a persistent challenge in these communities, making the palliatives particularly important during this difficult period. He urged community youths to maintain their vigilance against pipeline vandalism to help the federal government achieve its 2026 oil production targets.

Chief Darious Job, Chairman of the Southern Ijaw Council of Chiefs, thanked PINL for its community-focused approach and pledged continued cooperation, promising zero pipeline infractions in 2026.

The distribution campaign will expand to all 216 communities under PINL’s operational area across Rivers, Bayelsa, Imo, and Abia states, with scheduled visits to Ohaji/Egbema, Emohua, and Tai local governments, concluding at St. Paul’s Primary School on December 24.
