FG Declares Two-Day Public Holidays

FG has declared a two-day public holiday.

 

 

NewsRain Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to enable Christians across the country to celebrate Easter.

 

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced on behalf of the government in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora, describing Easter as a period that reflects values of sacrifice, renewal, and hope.

 

He urged Nigerians to embrace virtues such as selflessness, forgiveness, patience, and love, as exemplified in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

 

The minister also called for strengthened unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, noting that these values are essential for national cohesion.

 

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to policies aimed at promoting economic growth, national renewal, and shared prosperity.

 

Tunji-Ojo further wished Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
