ENDSARS: We Are To Reform SARS Not Abolish Them-Oyo CP Laments
Oyo CP. said that the IGP directives was to reform SARS.
News Rain Nigeria reports that Oyo State Commissioner of Police said that directives of the Inspector General of Police on the activities of the Special Anti – Robbery Squad were to Reform and not totally abolish.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu had declared that the Command is actually working within the directives of the IGP as regards the SARS issue.

CP. Nwachukwu in a Press Release that was made available to the News Rain Nigeria on Saturday said the Command is currently working on the Reformation of the SARS.
The Press Release which was issued and signed by the State Police Public Relation Officer, SP. Olugbenga Fadeyi quoted CP. Nwachukwu that some members of the public have misunderstood the IGP. Adamu Muhammed directives on SARS.
CP. Nwachukwu stressed that the IGP did not actually direct the command to scrap off the Special Anti – Robbery Squad but had called for their Reformation.

Parts of the statement of the Release are stated as thus; The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, psc wishes to inform the good people of Oyo State and the general public that since the commencement of the protest on ‘‘End SARS’’, the Command has been co-operating with the youths who have been protesting in Oyo State.
Also, he wishes to appreciate all those who have been carrying out the protest and has not allowed it to degenerate into fracas within the ambit of the law in the State.
The CP has equally explained emphatically to the ‘‘EndSARS’’ protesters in Ibadan, steps that the Inspector General of Police, IGP.
Mohammed A. Adamu NPM, mni took on the reformation of SARS, including a ban on engaging in routine patrols, stop-and-search, mounting of roadblocks, and traffic checks among others with immediate effect.

In the same vein, the IGP’s directives that SARS personnel should not engage in routine patrols, etc. should not be misconstrued. Other regular Police patrol teams including Swift Response Squad (SRS) Skynet squad, Puff Adder, Federal and Safer highway patrol teams, Police Mobile Force 4 and 72, etc, would continue to carry out routine patrols within and outside Ibadan metropolis to protect lives and property of the citizens of Oyo State.
He assures the good people of Oyo State to go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestations from any individual or groups as adequate security measures have been emplaced for maximum safety of all and sundry, while he warned angry youths/mobs from taking laws into their hands.
The CP further appealed to the general public to give the Police high Command some time for the full implementation of the IGP’s instructions.
