The delegation, led by Chairperson Dr. Adeola Ekine, expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Patrick D. Davou, for his warm reception and hospitality.

Dr. Ekine emphasized NAWOJ’s commitment to advocating for gender equality, responsible journalism, and societal development, aligning these goals with FRSC’s mission to ensure safer roads and save lives.

In her address, Dr. Ekine stated, “Road safety is a pressing issue that affects every family, community, and individual in Nigeria. As journalists, we are well-positioned to play a critical role in educating the public and promoting safe driving practices.

She affirmed the association’s intent to support FRSC in reducing road accidents and enhancing road safety awareness in Lagos State.

Dr. Ekine commended Commander Davou for his leadership and dedication, particularly as he approaches retirement. She recognized his efforts in managing the complexities of Lagos’s traffic and praised the tireless work of FRSC personnel.

He highlighted the importance of the FRSC as the lead agency for road traffic management in Nigeria and recognized the significant impact of their work in reducing road crashes.

I appreciate this gesture,” he stated, noting that a partnership with NAWOJ would enhance public awareness of FRSC’s efforts to save lives on Nigerian roads. He also underscored Lagos’s unique transportation challenges and the potential for collaborative public enlightenment campaigns.
