Reality Organisation Rejects Purported Reconciliation, Says ‘Chijioke Chukwu Has Failed, NWC Must Dissolve Abia APC SWC’

Reality Organisation has rejected the purported reconciliation of the Chijioke Chukwu-led State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that Reality Organisation has rejected the purported reconciliation by the Chijioke Chukwu-led State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, describing the move as a face-saving retreat and calling on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to dissolve the state executive.

The group, in a statement signed by Dimgba Okereke, said the decision by the State Working Committee to withdraw its threat of disciplinary action against Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and other party members did not amount to genuine reconciliation.

According to the organisation, the development followed an avoidable crisis created by the state leadership after it threatened disciplinary action against Kalu over comments he made during a television interview on the chances of Governor Alex Otti securing re-election in 2027.

Reality Organisation maintained that Kalu’s comments did not constitute an anti-party offence, arguing that expressing an opinion about an election outcome could not be interpreted as endorsing an opposing political platform.

The group accused the Chukwu-led State Working Committee of lacking the political temperament, neutrality and leadership capacity required to unite the APC in Abia ahead of the 2027 elections.

It alleged that the state leadership had applied party discipline selectively, claiming that some members associated with other tendencies had made political statements favourable to Governor Otti without attracting similar threats or disciplinary measures.

The organisation specifically cited Senator Emma Nwaka, Rt. Hon. Christopher Enweremadu, Prof. ACB Agbazuere and Hon. Benjamin Kalu, among others, and questioned why similar disciplinary action had not been initiated against them.

“Party discipline cannot become an instrument of political vendetta, selectively deployed against perceived opponents while allies and associates are conveniently shielded from scrutiny,” the group said.

Reality Organisation therefore urged the APC National Working Committee to urgently intervene in the Abia chapter and dissolve the existing State Working Committee, arguing that the leadership had lost the confidence of sections of the party and could no longer provide the impartial and unifying leadership required ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group said a party preparing to mount a serious challenge in 2027 could not afford a state leadership that, in its view, created internal crises and subsequently sought reconciliation after its position became untenable.

Reality Organisation also announced plans to convene a meeting in October to review the political situation in the Abia APC and determine what it described as the appropriate leadership direction for its members and supporters.

The organisation said it had lost confidence in Chukwu’s leadership and would no longer support what it described as a partisan and inconsistent approach to managing the affairs of the party in the state.

It, however, stressed that its position should not be interpreted as opposition to the APC, insisting that its commitment remained to the party, its constitution and its members.

“The APC is not the personal property of Chijioke Chukwu or any individual, tendency or political bloc,” the organisation said, warning against using temporary party positions to intimidate members or settle political differences.

Reality Organisation accused Chukwu of failing to unite the Abia APC, demonstrate impartiality and convince the various tendencies within the party that the State Working Committee belonged to all members.

It consequently called on the National Working Committee to act swiftly, warning that further delay could worsen the divisions within the Abia chapter ahead of the 2027 elections.
