Covid-19: Lagos State Commend FAAN, Okays Lagos Airport Equipment

newsrainngIn preparations for the reopening of airports for international flights in Nigeria, the Lagos State government had on Friday gave a hundred percent approval to the level of preparedness and the equipment that is on the ground at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (NMIA), Lagos.
Murtala Muhammed International Airport is one of the two airports considered for reopening for international flights that is slated to commence this coming Saturday with the landing of the Middle East Airlines at about 15:00hrs.

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamsat, who was at the airport with some of government top officials to access the equipment at the airport, confirmed the readiness of the Country for reopening and commencement of the international flights’ service.
He also stated that three flights would be landing at the Lagos International Airport on Saturday beginning with Middle East Airlines at about 15:00hours.
Dr. Hamsat, however, commended the efforts of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for the installation and deployment of equipment that would make the reopening and recommencement of flights a success one.

Hamzat said that he had gone through the various measures put in place to ensure the safety and security of travelers, noted that from the departure frontage to the check-in area, screening point, immigration area, up to the boarding gate, FAAN had fully complied with laid down protocols to ensure physical distancing by the markings on the ground, proper temperature checks, hand washing and sanitizing are well placed.
He also noted that the airport conveniences had been upgraded to cater for the post-COVID-19 operational requirements.

In his brief address, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria Captain. Rabiu Yadudu applauded the Lagos State Government for their support to the agency and the industry at large.
Captain Yadudu stressed that all that was required for the safe, secure, and seamless facilitation of flight operations had been put in place by the authority.
Recall, that Nigeria had over almost six months ago joined the rest of the World to close down her airspace for flights as a measure to curtail the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus.
