Mariah Adejokun the founder of Mr & Miss Teen Nigeria UK has spoken about the reason behind the beauty pageantry.

News Rain Nigeria gathered that the 23-year old lawyer in an interview recently said:
“I was mainly inspired by the lack of positive role models we had in our community. Society loves to highlight the negatives in our community but I set up this foundation with three main aims: Faith, positivity, and encouragement. These are the principles we hope our winners will imbibe.”

According to her, Mr & Miss Teen Nigeria UK is a platform for Nigerian youths in the UK striving for excellence to showcase their talents.

She said further: “We encourage these young contestants to achieve their goals, and that no goal is too big or too small. The platform is for them to express their ideas and talents and make their mark in society. It is a cultural pageant that provides a platform where 14 to 19-year-olds are educated on their culture and a place where they can showcase their creative ideas to the wider society.

Each contestant picks a different ethnic nationality which they will research on, so they can give a performance on the final night of the pageant.”

Speaking on what the winner would do, Adejokun declared: “Winners of the pageant will help in the campaign against mental health and knife crime. My role is to mainly share the knowledge with the younger generation that they are fearfully and wonderfully made”.

”God has created us all in His image and it is important for the younger generation to know this. In the UK, many young people from African households suffer mental health issues silently. I wanted to let the youth know it is okay for them to talk to someone and get help if needed.”
